The WGSS and LGBT community at Yale  would like to thank Marianne LaFrance and George Chauncey for making time to take on the important and time-consuming duties as interim chairs of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and LGBT Studies during spring 2012.

Professor LaFrance is an integral part of the Psychology Department whose primary research covers how gender and power are reflected and maintained by subtle communication processes.  She is a recognized expert in non-verbal communication and the author of Lip Service: Smiles in Life, Death, Trust, Lies, Work, Memory, Sex, and Politics.

Professor Chauncey is the Samuel Knight Professor of History and American Studies.  He is also the co-director of the Yale Research Initiative on the History of Sexualities.  His expertise lies in the studies of 20th century history as well as gay and lesbian history.  He is currently chair of the History Department.
