The Office of LGBTQ Resources

by Maria Trumpler, Director

The Office of LGBTQ ResourcesIn January of 2009, Yale's Office of LGBTQ Resources formally came into existence, and until it gets a permanent home shares space with WGSS on the third floor of WLH.

The Office of LGBTQ Resources works to create a visible LGBTQ community that includes staff, faculty and students from all of Yale's schools and from a wide variety of life experiences. They actively network with other Yale offices that advocate in support of diversity.

Yale is deeply committed to creating an inclusive environment in which all of its staff, faculty and students are treated with respect. The Office of LGBTQ Resources serves as an advocate, offering counseling, outreach, and problem solving.

Among the specific programs offered by the Office are Peer Liaisons mentors to Yale College first year students, LGBTQ Affinity group for staff, GALA Summer Fellowship to support undergraduates doing unpaid internships in LGBTQ advocacy, and Wallace-Sexton Travel funds to take 10 undergraduates to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's conference on Creating Change.
